Cohorts in travel and adventure

The journey of adventure is a long and winding one, filled with the good works of friends and colleagues. Herewith a few of those who have joined on my adventures, both in the field and on media projects.

— Richard Bangs

Jonathan Chester has been a mountaineer, polar guide, author and most of all a photographer, whose agency Extreme Images brings the best of the edge to digital shooting. He's also the guy who came to me with the idea for a virtual expedition to Antarctica, which become the first of its kind - Terraquest, still going strong. See more from Extreme Images.
Didrik Johnck is a relentless and fearless shooter, whether bungee jumping in Australia with a head-cam to record the dive or climbing to the top of Mt. Everest (and coming back with an image that graced the cover of Time Magazine). Learn more about Didrik on his own web site, Johnck.com.
Christian Kallen has been a colleague for longer than either of us cares to count, co-authoring several books and producing many web adventures along the way. He's also a talented photographer who has documented trips in Texas, Paris, Macedonia and more. Find out details from Christian's own website, Desktop Adventures.

Pasquale Scaturro has led a life of adventure almost without peer in today's modern world. Trained as a geophysicist, his work took him around the world and sparked his interest in adventure. He's led trips to the top of Everest, and organized and led the historic 114-day Nile First Descent Expedition (see Mystery of the Nile.) His web site can keep you updated on the latest from Exploration Specialists.

Ed Viesturs gained wide-spread recognition as the first U.S. citizen to complete the most difficult feat in mountaineering, ascending all 14 of the world's 8000-meter peaks. His successful ascent of Annapurna was documented on MSN by Richard Bangs (site unavailable), and his adventures continue to be detailed on EdViesturs.com.

John Canning has worked in media production, delivery and platforms for over 20 years. He served as photographer and field producer with Yahoo! and at Microsoft, where he was a Technical Evangelist for Microsoft's eHome Division. He now runs MediaSherpa Consulting and Productions doing digital media and game technology for major companies such as Disney, the Vatican, the Monaco Film Festival and others.
