Quest
for Kaitiakitanga Premieres
"New
Zealand: Quest for Kaitiakitanga" is now enjoying its scheduled
run on your local public television local station. The program
is the second in the "Richard Bangs' Adventures with Purpose"
program, produced by Small World Productions for American Public
Television.
From
the original Maori settlers to present-day tourists, all who travel
to New Zealand are awed by its natural beauty. The Maori concept
of Kaitiakitanga sees humans as earthly guardians,
assisting the gods and ancestral spirits in protecting the environment
and preserving cultural traditions. Well explore how this
ancient practice of caretaking is finding new popularity
across modern New Zealand in the form of ecotourism and sustainable
practices.
Richard
Bangs' Adventures with Purpose began its syndicated
run on national public television last fall, in what is called
a dynamic, new American Public Television special that shows
viewers how they can make a difference.
Egypt:
Quest for the Lord of the Nile was the first in the
series of one-hour television specials hosted by Bangs, who is
often called the father of modern adventure travel.
A second hour-long special, New Zealand:
Quest for Kaitiakitanga, is scheduled for airing in
February. Adventures with Purpose
is described as a series of adventure travel, eco-conscience,
historical documentaries according to Bangs, ...adventures
that not only quicken the pulse and fire the synapses, but journeys
of enlightenment and discovery.
Adventures
with Purpose is produced by Small
World Productions, the makers of Smart Travels-Europe
and Pacific Rim with Rudy Maxa and Travels
in Europe with Rick Steves among other programs. The special
is co-produced by KCTS/Seattle, and Richard Bangs Productions
of Marina del Rey, Calif.
